Minimum wage in Massachusetts for tipped employees

I'm looking for a summer job and have only one offer so far from a restaurant. I don't think this is considered a high-priced or fancy restaurant so I'm wondering if there are any laws in Massachusetts about how much I should make. The guy I interviewed with said that no matter what happens with tips I'll make at least $8.00 per hour. Is that so? Thanks.

Yes.  The minimum wage in Massachusetts is currently $8.00 per hour.  The minimum wage for tipped employees is only $2.63 per hour.  However, Massachusetts law also requires employers to adjust the employee's pay if his tips, combined with that minimum wage, do not equal a total of $8 per hour in any pay period.  Good luck with the new job.
