Mental Health Mediction Providers?

I am basically requesting legal information regarding the rights of a patient receiving mental health medication from a mental health provider.
My current provider saw no need for me to be in therapy.
I have not been in therapy for years.
My current provider left and I will be under the prescription care of a Clinical Psychiatric NP.

Under the law how far back , in years does a mental health provider have the legal right to inquire about?
Under the law what questions regarding the past and the present does a mental health patient have the right not to answer?
If a patient does not want to discuss something from the past or present and their is no medical necessity for the patient needing to be in therapy does that mental health provider have the legal right to deny medication and force the patient into therapy?
