Commission Pay Deductions

I work for an auto dealer and I am paid a base salary plus a monthly commission. They have recently changed our pay plans. They have tied the commission based portion to a random custom service survey. Can my employer deduct money from my commission pay for something that in somecases is completely out of my control? Also if these deductions are legal is a 50% deduction legal? Any guidance on this issue would be most appreciated
