I am a landlord with a tenant who who signed a one year lease for 09/01/15 thru 08/31/16, and signed a lease for 09/01/16 thru 08/31/17. We did not execute a lease for 09/01/17 thru 08/31/18. The tenant has continued to live in the apartment and pay rent under the terms of the previously signed lease.
I expected them to stay 09/01/17 thru 08/31/18. The tenant wants to leave 05/30/18 and has given me more than 30-days notice.
I contend that the full terms of the previous lease are in effect since nothing was said otherwise by either the tenant or myself, the landlord.
Do I have legal standing in this regard in Massachusetts?
