I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy. My mother passed away leaving enough on her insurance to pay for the funeral. Will I have a problem collecting this money because of my bankruptcy? My papers are filed but I have not received my final papers.

I don't know what you mean by "my papers are filed, but I have not received my final papers."

If your late mother's estate or a life insurance policy of hers left cash within 180 days of your having filed a bankruptcy case, the cash is part of your bankruptcy estate for the benefit of creditors, unless properly exempted.
181 days after you filed and it's yours, as I understand the law.

I filed my papers in May of 2007. I went to court at this time. When I talked to my lawyer a week ago he said the papers were in the process of being discharged and I should get these in the mail within the next two weeks. This is where I am getting confused. Will this cause any problems? Thank you for the response.
