My company is going through cut backs, and I am getting laid off. Rather than getting my last 7 days of pay, my untaken vacation and my expense check, I got a letter - like an IOU, from my company that they will pay me back in 30-45 days. I know they are supposed to pay me for wages, but what about my expenses that I have charged for work? Are they legally obligated to pay me back for those?

I believe they are supposed to pay back your expenses according to the original agreement. In other words, withing the same amount of time they would have had to pay if you remained employed. Not my area of specialty however so, if the problem is not cleared up, depending on the amount involved, you should find a MA attorney who does employment law. Good luck.
