I had a 1 yr lease expire recently. Upon the expiration, I was to renew the lease per an ad that they placed in my door that would have come out to $1360/mo. The ad of course was not what it read, and I was a bit disheartened. I went to talk to the property manager, and she typed up a lease of the best deal that she had in the complex or so she said.
Bottom line, she agreed to lease it for $1480 for 1 yr, which I have paid for 2 monthe now. But I have not returned a signed lease, therefore there is No signed lease in hand. If I move, am I bound by law to pay any breakage without a current signed lease on file??

Without seeing all the documents,my best guess is that you are now in a month to month agreement, meaning you have to give thirty day's notice before moving out. So if you gave notice today, you will be responsible for this month's rent and next.

My landlord has locked me out of my place of business and refuses to take any of my calls. This started a week ago, july 14th while I was on vacation. He needed to get in due to the fact that all the circuitbreakers are located in my shop, and another tenant blew a breaker (it should be noted that it was in my lease 7 years ago that I had to allow access due to the condition of the electricity, but that lease has expired 1 year after I signed it and I have been month 2 month since) I told the tenant I was not around to go and turn it back on so I said call the landlord as he has a key (or so I thought). Well the landlord couldnt get his key to work or he had thrown away the correct key due to the fact that I had changed the lock 3 years ago because the original had broken, and when I gave him a new key (twice) he still had a problem. I admit he should have a key for emergency problems, but when I found out his key wasnt working, I told him I can have a guy there within 3 hours to open it and he would supply the landlord with the correct key again. My landlord told me he was gonna drill out the lock and hung up the phone on me. He has since refused to allow me access to my unit and says he wants me out, wich is fine with me but he wont allow me access to the unit to remove my possesions. I really want out but he is making this dificult by not allowing me access to my possesions and I really dont care that he didnt give me notice of any kind....I just want my possesions and be done with this...I did speak with a lawyer friend who suggested I write a letter and drop it in his mailbox apologizing for his inconvenience and ask that we simply dissolve the relationship, which I am ok with. I just fear that he will ignore the letter as well. What are my rights as to gaining access to my shop to get my belongings never mind the fact that I can't conduct business properly as everything I need is in there?
