Working through lunch with no break?

I worked eight hours shifts for a retail store. They were single coverage shifts so we were not given breaks. We were told we could eat our lunch but when a customer came in you had to stop and help them. They did not take money from us for lunch. Do they have to give you a thirty minute non working break?

Yes, Massachusetts law prohibits employers from requiring employees to work more than 6 hours without a break.
