Holiday pay in MA
If you are a retail employee and you work Veteran's Day and certain other holidays in Massachusetts, you are entitled to time and half. However, in the situation you describe, working 5 hours overtime and 8 hours of holiday time, I believe the employer satisfies its obligations by paying you the 8 hours of holiday pay. Not exactly my area of specialty, so you should verify by calling the Attorney General's Fair Labor Hotline at 617-727-3465.
