I got a hearing scheduled in a week with an administrative law judge to hear my SSDI appeal. I got a lot going on and I'm not sure if I can win so I might not go. Will I be able to reschedule the hearing for a later date, like in a few weeks when I have time to do some more research?

Don't skip SSDI appeal hearing

It is an enormously bad idea to skip your Social Security Disability appeal hearing.  If you do, the Social Security Administration might allow you to reschedule, if you can show good cause, such a death or other family emergency.  "Having a lot going on" is not going to cut it.  If your request is denied, you may have to start the whole application process over.  Based on current trends, I assume you have been waiting quite a while for this appeal hearing.  Even if you are not sure of the outcome, why would you even consider missing it?  If you intend to continue with your efforts to get SSDI, you should talk to a disability attorney about this.   If you can find one who is willing to take the case, she may be able to attend the hearing and save you the time and aggravation of re-applying.  Good luck.
