What have You Learned about MA Special Education?

Hi.  My name is Mark Bernardin, and I am the editor of The Forum for MA Law.  I've discovered that there are numerous, excellent Internet resources available to Massachusetts families dealing with special education law, so I do not believe this particular forum should focus exclusively on straight-forward questions and answers.  Let's try something more interesting.

Most of the Internet resources I've found fail to explain the 'real world' of Massachusetts special education law.  What happens, for example, when a family appeals an IEP in front of a mediator or in court?  How do they do?  What do they learn from the experience, and what would they do differently?  I would like to open this Forum up to all of you who have real world experiences and can use those experiences to educate the rest of us.

Although I am an attorney and I know a little bit about MA special education law (not enough to answer questions, sadly), I am eager to hear some stories from the front lines.  So thank you, in advance, for sharing.
Mark
