Just curious. My uncontested divorce hearing is next week and neither my husband nor me has a lawyer. What should I know about this and what will happen? Thanks.

Surprisingly little happens at the hearing for an uncontested divorce. You both need to attend and will approach the tables at the front of the court when your case is called. Since there are no attorneys, the judge will ask you a series of questions dealing with the accuracy of the financial statements and then a few questions designed to affirm your commitment and your husband's commitment to the Agreement you have reached. For example, the judge may ask if you both think that Agreement is fair or whether you understand the Agreement or whether one party coerced the other in any way. After that, he or she will tell you how long it will be before the divorce is final. Then, you are done. Hope that helps.
