Use of break time
You are entitled to do as you please during your breaks (within reason). Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149, Section 100 states that no employee should be required to work for more than six hours in any one day without a break of at least 30 minutes for a meal. The law does not require a paid break, but you should be allowed to use the time as you see fit. For example, the Attorney General's Office has specifically stated that employees should be allowed to pray during meal breaks and should, in general, be allowed to use the breaks as personal free time. There are some exceptions to this law spelled out in M.G.L Chapter 149, Section 101, but they pertain to specific industries, such as iron works, glass works, paper mills, and print shops. Hope that helps.
