Video Surveillance of roommate under Massachusetts law

I am fairly certain that my roommate is entering my bedroom while I am at work. I want to set up a surveillance system, camera only, in only my bedroom. Is that legal? What if the cameras are not hidden?

Video surveillance in MA

I would say that if you only intend to use the video camera in areas under your control, where the roommate should have no expectation of privacy, and you only use the footage for security and not for some other innapropriate reason (to embarrass or blackmail the roommate) you should be OK.  Good idea not to take an audio recording, as it is illegal in MA to make audio recordings without the knowledge/permission of the person being recorded.
