I have a large oak tree in my front yard. There is a large branch that hangs over the house. ( about 12 inch diameter). I wanted this branch removed and my landscaper told me he could do it. Well I came home today and the branch was gone. But my gutter directly under where the branch was is now bent, and pulled away from the house. I assume that this "professional" just cut the branch and let it fall onto my house. I have NO idea what I should do now. Do I call and tell him I wont pay him? Do I spend that money on a new gutter? What if I now have a water problem in the next rain storm?. I have never had to deal with this before. I have no idea how to preceed. ANY advice would be helpful. Thank you

Damage caused by contractor
Ask the landscaping contractor to pay for the repair of the damage to the gutter. If he is insured, he can file a claim with his insurer. Or, if he wants to avoid getting his insurer involved, he can pay for the repair himself. Make sure you hire a licensed and insured contractor to fix the gutter. If the landscaper refuses to pay, you can sue him in small claims court, a venue that is designed for just this type of dispute. Good luck.
