A quick-stop style car shop replaced my transmission fluid with the wrong fluid, which has wrecked the transmission. They've been very nice about doing free transmission flushes whenever it starts acting up again, but I think what's needed is a new, functional transmission - one that doesn't leave me stranded in the middle of Rte 128 at rush hour when it decides to not work. What are the applicable laws?

Small claims court
Assuming you didn't sign anything that waives your rights, you should sue them in small claims court. I don't know what a new transmission costs, I'm guessing a lot, so you may want to contact an attorney who does consumer protection law. She could help you with a demand letter that could avoid the need for litigation. If the case is as straight-forward as you make it sound, the attorney for the shop would likely advise that it settle the matter. Good luck.
