Is there some maximum time I have to wait for ALJ hearing under the law?

I read the other post about trying to speed up the date for a disability hearing and know I have to be patient but I'm wondering if there is some time limit under the law for the SSA to schedule my ALJ hearing. There must be something like that right? I have been waiting forever and bills are piling up. Thanks for your help.

Time limit for ALJ hearing

I agree with you that there should be some maximum time limit for the ALJ disability hearing to be scheduled after a request is made. That, however, is not the way it works. In some parts of the country claimants may wait longer than a year for a hearing. As I have discussed in other threads, at this stage of the process I recommend that claimant use a disability attorney to pursue their claim for disability benefits. If that is not an option for you, you can try some of the methods used in the thread you referred to, re speeding up your request for a disability hearing.  Good luck.
