I've been out on short term disability for a couple of months months but eventually that is going to expire pretty soon. If I apply for SSDI will it be easier for me to get it because I was on disability already?

Your actual disability and work history are much more relevant in terms of your ability to qualify for SSDI. Follow this link for an explanation of the SSDI application process and of what the Social Security Administration will look for. For starters, you will need to show that you were (or will be) disabled for at least 12 months. However, you do not need to wait for that 12 month period to end before applying for SSDI benefits.
