hello, my son is 13 years old. He is blind, deaf and has mental retardation. He has a certificate of blindeness from the ma. commission for the blind. I know he qualifies for disability. My question is around the guidelines for income that the parents can have. How much money can i have in my savings/checking account.Does it matter?
I am currently collecting unemployment, that is the only source of income for our family.
If you could shed some light on this subject i would really appreciated.
Also, do i need an attorney to apply?
Thank you!

SSI for disabled children
Here is a good resource on the website of the SSA. You do not have to have an attorney to apply, but I think it's a good idea. Good luck.
