I collect a Social Security Disability Payment. I think I need to file bankruptcy, but was wondering if that payment must be counted as income on my bankruptcy filing.  (Posted by imgone107 on The Forum.)

Editor's Response:

Yes. SSDI payments are are "income" for bankruptcy purposes and must be reported on a bankruptcy petition. However, for purposes of calculating the means test (required to file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy), you do not have to include Social Security payments.
