Social Security COLA for MA elders

Elders in Massachusetts and in other states, who have gone two years without a cost of living adjustment for Social Security, got some good news last month when the Social Security Administration announced a 2012 COLA of 3.6%.  The bad news is that many seniors will see a big chunk of this increase eaten up by a higher premium for Medicare Part B, which typically helps pay for doctor visits and other clinical and outpatient services.  For more information about the COLA and how the Medicare premium increase may impact you, visit the website of the SSA.  http://www.ssa.gov/cola/
