My elder parents have a large split-level home sitting on level 3-acre lot. Unfortunately, the home has never been properly maintained. There are serious issues with plumbing, heating, electrical, and more. It's at a point now where things are failing on a weekly basis. As a result, they would like to sell the property as soon as possible and move into a maintenance free condo or senior community. Because of the poor condition of the home, they can't see how anyone would want to purchase it. In situations like this, is it common to sell a property "as-is"? And if so, would a title V still be required for the septic? Any advice on where to start would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Your parents can certainly sell their house "as is." They should be careful not to make any misrepresentations as to the condition of the home however. However, selling a home as is does not help the seller to get around any legal requirements for a sale, such as lead paint documentation, Title V, or smoke and monoxide detector inspections.
