I am a named inheritor in a will for an older close friend (NOT a partner/spouse but someone I spent a lot of time with and took care of) who died four months ago. The only other human heir is my friends sibling - they are also the executor.
..............
The sibling/executor won't tell me much and the lawyer (who prepared the will) says that their client is the executor and won't talk to me. The sibling gave me a copy of the will (and I was **surprised** to see myself in there) but no other paperwork. I've been told they got court appointment of/as executor - but I never heard anything about it nor did I ever sign anything.
..................
I've tried to keep things friendly but am getting worried that something is amiss.
...................
What are my rights and what info are they required to give me?
thank you
