I was asked to watch the apartment of someone who was going away for a few days (I am 23). A grease fire accidentally started when I was cooking dinner which caused damage to the apartment and water damage as a result of the sprinklers to a few other apartments. The person who asked me to watch the apartment while they were away is also the property manager of the building. I received a letter from the building's insurance company looking to subrogate the damage. What is my responsibility ( I have almost no assets at all and virtually an empty bank account)? My parents are also concerned they are liable although they were not at the apartment and had nothing to do with the fire in any way. Thank you
