We own a single family house, we rented out the basement to a tennant. We had a standard lease and everything, we however didn't ask for a sercurity deposit.
She has moved out, we never got anything in writing as far as moving out. She told us she would be out by the November 18th. We only charged her rent for that period of time instead of the full month. I did however put on the rent receipt 'last day of tennancy November 18th'.
She however left quite a few major things such as 2 beds, a dresser, and lots of clothes. I have tried calling her numerous occasions but her phone isn't accepting calls. I have also mailed her a letter asking her to contact me regarding her property to both the same address(hoping she did a address change) as well as relatives house(was found on a envelope for a card mailed to her)
Do I need to hold onto her property? I can store it for a couple months, but we are going to do remolding in our basement in Feburary and would need to get that stuff out of the way.
If I am required to hold on to her belongings is there a length of time that I need to hold onto them for?
