I purchased a MP3 player from a local resident through Craigslist. The device was not compatible with my computer's operating system, and no info of this was given on the matter in the description for the item. I called within 4 hours of purchasing the item asking for a refund in which the seller said ok. Later in the day I get a call back from the seller saying that he discussed the matter with his wife and they agreed that it is my problem now, the item is mine and I am not getting my money back. Am I entitled to a refund? Can this be settled in small claims and in my favor? I appreciate any feedback.

I obviously do not know what the ad said or what the seller said to you prior to your purchase. However, if the device works as it was designed to work, unless the seller made some sort of representation regarding whether it would work with your specific computer or operating system (or whatever the problem is) I'm not sure you could convince a small claims court to force the seller to refund your money. By the way, the filing fee at small claims court is $30, so you would have to figure that expense (and the time and aggravation involved) when making your decision about whether to pursue this matter.
