Preparing for consultative examination for SSDI

I have to have a consultative examination next week for my SSDI claim and I was wondering if there's anything I can do to prepare for this or anything I should bring with me. Thanks for your help.

Consultative examination for SSDI

No, there is no preparation you need to do for the consultative examination for your Social Security Disability claim.  If you have medical records, xrays, MRI reports, or other materials that you believe will bolster your claim, bring them along, but don't worry if you don't have any.  Most Social Security disability lawyers believe that these consultative exams are a bit of waste of time, and often the resulting reports say little about the most important issue in any SSDI claim: your capacity to work.  In general, you should try to provide whatever information you have and answer all questions honestly, but don't get too upset if your claim is denied at this level.  The exam is just one bit of information that will ultimately be placed before an administrative law judge.  If you have an attorney, talk to her about the exam.  If not, and if your claim is denied, you should consider talking to a Massachusetts disability lawyer.  Good luck.
