An employer gave an annual performance review accompanied by a pay raise. The employee wanted to comment on the evaluation as permitted on the form. The comment confirmed a policy issue recently discussed by upper mamagement. The manager did not agree with the comment and refused to negotiate. I am refused a modified evaluation and forced to accept the evaluation strictly as written by the employer.

Do I not have the right to comment on the evaluation? What is the recourse?

Fired after performance review and raise

Update to my earlier post with no replies. Apparently an employee cannot comment on a performance evaluation if the employer does not agree with the opinion or believes the comment is not relevant to the review. In other words an employee can be denied to comment on an valuation and the employer controls what will and will not go into the employees personell files. It appears also to be grounds for termination when an employee dispute such a denial. I was fired today on the heels of this dispute with my employer. When asked how an employer can trump the rights of an employee during an evaluation the employer declared because he was the Employer. After 30 years in the market and in management I have never encountered this approac or concept. Must be MA?
