Pedestrian injured in crosswalk in MA town

I got hit in the middle of the day by a driver who hit me while I was in a clearly marked crosswalk. Damages are medical bills and lost work, etc. We know who he is and I got insurance information and several people came forward afterward to tell me they would act as witnesses if I need it. The accident happened in front of an ice cream stand with plenty of customers. Is there anything I should be doing right now to help with this kind of pedestrian injury matter. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Pedestiran injury

I don't think it's terribly important for you to do anything yourself, other than get proper medical care and contact a Massachusetts injury attorney.  I'm sure you know not to attempt to negotiate with the insurance company on your own,  and certainly do not sign anything unless your attorney reviews it. Your attorney will, no doubt, begin an investigation that may include interviewing witnesses and examining and photographing the site of the accident.  It's great that you have a list of witnesses, as that will obviously help with the attorney's investigation and subsequent work on the case.  Also, your attorney will likely get in touch with the local or state police, depending on jurisdiction, to find out if an investigation has been conducted, as required by Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 89, Section 11:

Whenever a pedestrian is injured by a motor vehicle in a marked crosswalk, the department of state police or the municipal police department with jurisdiction of the street, in consultation with department of state police if deemed appropriate, shall conduct an investigation into the cause of the injury and any violation of this section or other law or ordinance and shall issue the appropriate civil or criminal citation or file an application for the appropriate criminal complaint, if any. This section shall not limit the ability of a district attorney or the attorney general to seek an indictment in connection with the operation of a motor vehicle which causes injury or death and which violates this section.

Hope all that helps.
