I read an article recently about parent coordinators in the state of Vermont and was impressed by the concept. Are they legal or even used in Massachusetts?

Yes, they are legal and used, but not as intertwined in the court system as they are in Vermont and New Hampshire. For an excellent article on the subject, visit the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly web site. According to that article, for those who have no idea what we are discussing, a parent coordinator is "an unlikely combination of lawyer, arbitrator, life coach, mental health professional and social secretary whose sole purpose is to smooth out post-divorce acrimony and keep feuding parties out of court." In short, parent coordinators help divorced parents resolve disputes regarding custody and visitation schedules. Hope that helps.
