Hello and thank you for this forum. My uncle is in a nursing home in western Massachusetts. The staff have not told me I can't visit him in the evenings, but have made it clear they wish I wouldn't come so late. I sometimes come after 9 p.m. because of my work hours, but my uncle is fine with that. He watches television until later in the evening. Under MA law can the nursing home staff tell me when I can visit or restrict visiting hours?

Nursing home visiting hours in Massachusetts?
Both Massachusetts and Federal law require nursing home facilities to allow residents to receive visitors at any time that they wish. You can follow this link to a post that includes a list of nursing home resident rights that are protected under Massachusetts law. Federal law also provides a collection of rights for residents, many similar to those in MA. Good luck with your uncle.
