Hello,
Does anyone know and understand the new child support law that is going into effect in January 2009?
My ex-husband is pushing to get me to take our child support payments that I pay him now out of the court system. He says that this new law could increase my support payments from like 30 to 70%. I read the new law, but am not sure if I understand it. From what I have read, including the worksheets, it seems as though I would actually pay him less than I do now. And this is what I am concerned about. My lawyer is on vacation until Monday, so I was hoping to get any info before she returns.
Thanks

Sorry, I have not looked at the new law. However, I wonder (as I'm sure you are) what the rush is. Why can't your husband wait until you talk to your attorney (as you definitely should before you do anything).
For more info about the new guidelines, follow this link:

Thanks for your response.
Thanks for your response. Yes, I am definitely wondering. Unfortunately, trust is a huge issue for me with him for all he has done. I will not do anything without talking to my lawyer, he's already manipulated me to do some other things for him that have hurt my chances to ever get my kids back. I can't afford to make any more mistakes.
Thanks again.
New Child Support Law
Does anyone know what the new child support guidelines are for the supporting parent? My ex-wife doesn't work...and I was told that it requires both parents to contribute.
thanks
