Recently, I was told I would be required to attend a certification training for my job. The Management was going to require that we pay for the training, and not pay us for our time while attending the training - seven hours.
I was told by someone else that by law, employers are required to pay for an employees time when attending a mandatory training.
Is that true?
Many thanks!

Pay for mandatory employee training
Assuming you are a non-exempt employee (paid based on the number of hours you actually work), and are not an independent contractor, then you should be paid for any mandatory training, meetings, or other job related activity.
