I was divorced without an attorney in another state. My ex had an attorney.I was not notified of the divorce hearing date. As a result I was not in court for the divorce hearing. As I did not have a lawyer court would not re open my case. I was awarded a very small amount of child support and no assets or alimony.I have since returned home to Massachusetts. Can I have my divorce re opened here? Have support payments changed? Be awarded alimony?

You have a divorce from another state, not Massachusetts. I would hire a divorce attorney from the other state and ask her to review your divorce. I do not know the law regarding modification in the state that granted your divorce, so I cannot offer any guidance on that point. However, if there was some error in the service or in the notification regarding the divorce or hearing, your attorney may be able to help you explore that issue. Good luck.
