Medical Malpractice patient compensation fund in MA?

I'm told (and have read) that in other states people who are injured by medical malpractice can try to get reimbursed for those injuries from a patient compensation fund. Does Massachusetts have anything like that or do you always have to file a lawsuit?

Interesting idea.  You are correct, some states, such as Florida, have patient compensation funds that require hospitals and/or physicians to pay a yearly fee into a pool that is used to compensate victims of negligence.  As of this date, however, Massachusetts does not have a patient compensation fund.
