I live in the Boston area and I'm proud to say I have an excellent credit history. So good, in fact, that everyday I get at least two credit card offers. All junk mail irritates me. It's a waste of paper and annoying to have to throw it out everyday. But I was curious if there's any law in Massachusetts or federal law that would allow me to stop junk mail from being sent to my house. Any thoughts?

Junk mail law in Massachusetts
As far as I know, there is no Massachusetts or federal law that allows you to stop all junk mail from being delivered to your home. There are, however, some steps you can take to limit the flow of mail in your direction. Credit card offers are fairly easy to stop. If you opt out of the credit bureau mailing lists, that will prevent businesses from pre-screening your credit report. Without that ability, credit card companies are much less likely to send you mailings. Just call 1-888-567-8688.
For other types of mailings, you can contact the Direct Marketing Association to remove your name from national mailing lists. (Direct Marketing Association, Mail Preference Service Box 643, Carmel, NY 10512.)
