I'm considering going to an acupuncturist for some chronic pain issues. (I have a friend who uses acupuncture and swears by it). Just not sure about it thought. Is this an area where people have lots of complaints or that generates a lot of medical malpractice claims? Any ideas on where to get such information. Thank you.

I did some quick research and found that, between 1990 and 2004, there were only 39 reports of medical malpractice made to the US Department of Health and Human Services National Practitioner Data Bank regarding acupuncturists. That does not seem like a lot. For more information about specific practitioners, you can visit the Committee on Acupuncture at the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.
