Not really my specialty. However, if you have not seen it, the Massachusetts Trial Court Law Library has a good collection of MA laws re guns. While there, you should check out 501 CMR 7. These are Massachusetts regulations regarding the Approved Weapon Rosters. Again, not my specialty, but I will guess that modified weapons of the type you describe will not be on the Roster.
