I'll start this Forum out, I guess. First of all, thanks to The Editor. I really like your site and appreciate your efforts.
Here is 'American Liberalism' illustrated: A liberal is at a red light with three cars behind him, all patiently waiting their turn. A driver pulls up on a side street, facing the liberal’s door. When the light turns green, instead of going through the light and letting the driver pull out of the side street after the waiting traffic has cleared, the liberal waves and signals for her to go in front of him. There is a delay while the driver on the side street determines the liberal’s intentions, smiles, waves, and drives through the intersection. But both parties are happy, one because he feels good about himself and his ‘good’ deed, and the other because she has received an unexpected and unnecessary benefit.
Finally, while silently congratulating himself on his compassion for his fellow man, the liberal proceeds through the light (He knew he would have time to get through after letting the other driver go) and is followed by one of the cars that were waiting behind him. Because of the time consumed by the liberal’s ‘good’ act, the other two drivers do not get through the light. They are not happy, because they rightly believe that if the liberal had just gone through the light they would also have made it through, and the driver on the side street would have then pulled out and waited her turn.
And there you have the Liberal Mind in a nutshell: liberals are so consumed with their need to feel good about themselves and the resulting desire to help the person standing RIGHT in front of them, that they fail to consider all the consequences of their acts and whether those acts, in fact, adversely affect other innocent parties.
Examples of this phenomenon abound in our society: Liberals worry about illegal aliens already in the country, but fail to consider the needs and the feelings of the thousands of law-abiding families who wait years and years for the chance to legally enter our great country.
Just my thoughts. We have good 'rules' in this country, and if we all take our turn, work hard, and obey the rules, we all benefit in due time.
