I am breaking a lease and will be moving out May 31st instead of August 31st, we have found a new tenant to move in June 1st which the landlord and realtor have already approved and worked with. The new tenant wants the apartment painted but is still moving in June 1st, the landlord is trying to charge us several days rent for days when the paint needs to dry and the unit it supposedly uninhabitable. Do we owe anything??

Double rent
You are liable for the rent until the landlord is able to fill the unit with a new tenant. However, now that a new tenant is in place the landlord cannot collect double rent.
What if it has been filled
What if it has been filled and a new tenant has signed a lease but the landlord wont let them move in for a few extra so that the paint can dry.
