Lawyer referral service for personal injury case

My cousin is thinking about filing a lawsuit and I'm helping her find a lawyer. What do you think of those lawyer referral services on the Internet? I've found a couple that take your information about the accident and injury and then they say they find an attorney for you at no charge (they call you back). Good idea or not?

Editor's Response

It sounds like you are talking about a site that is either a group of attorneys (possibly from multiple states) who have banded together to create one website or a service that finds potential clients and charges its 'member attorneys' a fee for personal injury case leads.  In either case, I do not have a problem with such sites.  However, regardless of where you locate a potential attorney (phone book, Internet, side of bus, or even if you you use our Attorney Directory to, there is an important process you need to go through and questions you should ask before hiring a lawyer.  Follow this link to a post with my thoughts on finding Massachusetts personal injury lawyers

I realize the process of finding an attorney can be overwhelming, but I encourage you to do the hard work and get it right the first time.  Ask the hard questions and make sure you find a man or woman who will do a good job for your cousin while keeping her informed about the progress of the case.  Good luck.
