LandLord wont hire an expert to get rid of carpenter ants

I came across about 100 carpenter ants tuesday. I called and told him at 6 30. he told me to take my plants out. I had to go to work and said i would do so tommorrow ( I told him i was scared to go into because ants were crawling all over my plants and that I would hire a teenager in the neighborhood to do it or someone around town). He said we was going to come over to check it out. I left. Then I got home. When I checked out the room in the morning all ants were dead. But room really smelled. Then i asked what spray he used because of my garden veggie plants (worth$150). he wouldn't tell me. then i found the spray in cellar. called the pesticide commision and they said it was outlawed by the EPA in 2002 adn to tell my LL to throw it away. Its now Saturday and the room still smells horrible and we can't go in it. And a bunch of residue is on window sills and all the dead ants. I asked him to please come scrub off the residue becausue we miss the sunroom. He never showed up. never called. He says the ants came because of my plants and told me he does not want me to have a garden in the yard anymore b/c he says plants attract C/A's. I already dug up half the garden and went our and bought supplies to build it (because he told he two weeks ago I could have a garden).

I'm calling the health inspector monday.

Worst of all the ants are still here. I just found one crawling on me as I sit her in bad. So gross. half an inch long. Wings! I am noticing about 7 bugs a day in different sizes in the apartment. They are gross bugs. They make multiple nests. I had read about them and experts need to handle it. I don't think its o.k. that I have to walk around my apartment and walk slow into a room because an ant may be around.

WHat else can I do? Should I hire an exterminator and take it out of my rent? Or hire and then take to small claims court?

Follow this link for an explanation of how you get your landlord to make repairs and fix other issues (like bugs).  In the short term, get some spray or ant traps.  Then, first thing Tuesday morning (after the holiday)  call your local inspectional services office and ask for an apartment inspection.  Good luck.
