Landlord will NOT give my SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK

I need help! Answers and possibly advices! My landlord will not give me my security deposit back. He is stating that I did not shampoo the rugs when clearly I have the receipt for renting the RUG DOCTOR. He said that there was a hole in the living room closet door when CLEARLY I did not make any holes any where besides nails for hanging my pictures! I am sooo stupid I did not take pictures before leaving and I didn't think that this landlord would ever do such a thing! He is also stating that I gave him inadequate notice, Funny thing is my lease was up in September 2010 and I gave him a written 30 day notice On December 6, 2010. My last day there was Janurary 6th, 2011. I have been waiting for the security deposit and still I am waiting. Today I got this letter in the mail stating I have to pay him an extra $292.00 on top of him keeping my security deposit???? I need to take this to court. What are my steps with taking this to court? Can someone help me and let me know what I should do? I'm furious and definitely need to speak to a attorney!!! PLEASE HELP!
