Does Massachusetts law allow a husband and wife to have a joint will? It seems strange that we should both do a will when we both want the same thing when we die. We have been married nearly twenty years but don't have a lot of property anyway. Thanks.

Let me offer you a slightly premature "congratulations" on being married twenty years. I cannot predict if a joint will for a husband and wife would be allowed by a Massachusetts court. However, the better practice is to have separate wills that allow you to plan for all eventualities, such as what will happen to your property, including property that you owned jointly, if you both die at the same time, in an accident for example. I don't think most attorneys would charge extra for doing the second will. Good luck.
