How ever difficult this is for me to share, but I feel I must. I'm only 26 years and I applied for SSDI in May 2010. I've suffer from several problems depression and weight problems. I've worked and have had the same job type since I was 16 years old.
The last two years have been my most difficult. My depression has taken over my life and I can function at all. My depression has cause a rapid weight gain of over 150lbs in the last year. Most basic tasks such as walking, bathing are very difficult. I suffer from anxiety, isolation, fear of going outside, difficulty sleeping just to name a few. While writing this thread my feet and hands are shaking.
Although, I see a PCP and psychiatrist I don't know if all my problems are being documented. I fear that I don't have the acquit evidence I need to help me win a decision. My psychiatrist notes I believed are confidential and don't know by simply signing the release forms at the SS office, they will get to the appropriate people.
I'm scared that I won't be able to articulate my problems to the examiner, so I asked for my dad to come with me, who will speak on my behalf. Is this OK? Also, how deep do these questions get? I feel like I might brake down and I don't to in front of my dad. He knows I'm suffering but not in a personal feelings kind of way.
I know this is super long and boy did it feel like a little relief to put this out there. Any advice, words are welcomed.
Thanks

I'm sorry that you are worried about your 'appointment' but, given that your meeting is today, there is not much I can tell you that will be of much help. If you are talking about a hearing in front of administrative law judge, then you will have to testify, and your dad cannot do it for you. Whatever stage of the process you are at, I honestly believe you can take a lot of the pressure off of yourself by consulting a MA disability attorney. Typically, initial consultations cost nothing and fess are reasonable. Your attorney, who has done this many times before, will be able to prepare you and organize your case. Then, you don't have to worry about the details. Good luck.
