How will a separation agreement affect an employee named in a lawsuit against the former employer?

I was laid off two weeks ago and offered 2 weeks severance if I signed what "appears" to be a basic separation agreement. While I have no intention of filing a claim against this employer, the company is currently being sued for actions the owner took relative to the property I managed.

How could this agreement affect me if I am named in the lawsuit at a future date? I do not believe there are any grounds for this (in fact, I believe my layoff was a result of me NOT lying for my former employer), but I need to know if I could have any personal liability that I would not have if I did not choose to sign the agreement. Based on the current employment market, the 2 weeks pay may be important.

Severance pay

Sorry, but this forum is not intended as a source for legal advice.  There honestly is no way to offer a meaningful guess about what liability you may create for yourself by signing the agreement.  Nobody who reads your question has read the document or is familiar with the facts leading up to your termination and related to the lawsuit in question.  You should probably have a MA employment lawyer take a look at the document.  Good luck.
