I live in Massachusetts and was just served by my soon to be ex. We've lived apart for a couple of months and I guess she thinks it's time to end it. I'm not sure I agree but I guess I've got to get going on this. So, I know this will be a ballpark figure, but what will a divorce in Massachusetts cost me? Thanks for any information you can give me.

costs for divorce

As you say a ballpark figure. First if it not too late look into mediation with your wife if the 2 of you can cooperate. This would mean keeping your attorneys if you use them in the background but still available. The average mediation cost is 3-$5,000 depending on the complexity.
Litigation is normally charged by the hour with rates from 250-350 on average as I have seen it. Total will likely be $10,000 and up per person depending on complexity of issues, animosity and the personalities of the litigators.
If at all possible see if your wife will work cooperatively with you. If she needs an attorney at least see if the attorney will work cooperatively with your attorney. Of course you know her and you know what has lead up to the filing. Good luck allan@baronlawmediation.com
