I know it's different for every person and it varies according to your work history, etc., but what's the average amount people get for an SSDI benefit every month? I'm in the middle of this whole application process and I was curious to know. Thanks

You are correct: the amount people receive in Social Security Disability Insurance varies. Depending on which source you believe, it appears the current monthly benefit is right around a thousand dollars. According to the Social Security Administration, the average disability payment was $1,063.10 in 2008. Hope that helps. For more information or to post a question, visit our MA SSDI Discussion Forum.

Average means nothing in your case. One person may receive only a few hundred dollars and another thousands. Your benefit must be determined by the Social Security Administration and will consider the number of quarters your have worked and the taxes you have paid as an insurance premium while you worked.
