Five years of a probate court - really!?!

My case started almost 5 years ago. Is there anything that I can do to get a lawyer and a judge to do their job professionally and within a timely manner or is this the way things work in our legal system? I hired a Post Office Sq. Lawyer who was compensated up front and now will not respond to me for over 3 wks now. The presiding Judge, who snickers when my case occasionally gets heard again in front of her, because I’m the case where her decision got lost for a year along with my temporary file twice went missing and my original file which is still missing. I won my case which is now being appealed and has been in this state for over 6 months. It still hasn't made it to the appeals court. The transcripts were missing, inaudible and have now been partially reconstructed with no new court date insight. What rights do I have? Is there anything that I can do to get a lawyer and a judge to do their job professionally and within a timely manner or is this the way things work in our legal system?

Hard for me to judge the actions of the court or of your attorney on limited facts.  If you believe the attorney is not living up to his or her obligations to you, you should contact the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, Office of Bar Counsel at 617-728-8750.  Talk to them about your attorney's behavior.  They should be able to give you some idea of whether the behavior falls below acceptable standards of professional conduct.  Good luck.

Thank you

I appreciate you responding to me - Thank you very much! Do you know who I can contact in regards to the Judge's and/or the Probate Court for their actions as well?
