Is there any situation in which the Social Security Administration will fast-track a claim and get the approval going faster. Like in the case I'm thinking about a friend is clearly disabled, has little or no money coming in and needs to get approved quickly. So could his SSDI claim be expedited or simply skip the review process?

Quick Disability Determination program
All applicants have to go through a review and approval process, but, yes, some applicants may receive a faster determinations than others. This can happen in one of two ways. The application may fall under the Social Security Administration's Compassionate Allowance Program. Second, the application may be processed under a new program launched by the SSA in October of 2010 called the Quick Disability Determination program. This program uses a rather sophisticated computer program to sift through electronic claims and locate "cases where there is a high likelihood that the claimant is disabled" Once such a claim is located, the claims representative can approve it without going through the typical requirement of reviewing the claim with a medical or psychological consultant. Cutting out that step can save quite a bit of time. Hope that helps
